Boxing Tutor Guide

Introduction

Congratulations on becoming a Boxing Awards Tutor.

The Boxing Awards Tutor Course has provided you with the basic principles, skills and knowledge needed to begin delivering the Boxing Awards. As you are aware the course covered a variety of topics including:

  • Warm Ups for Children and Adults/DVD
  • Different Style of Circuit Training
  • Basics of Boxing
  • Pad Work
  • Partner Work
  • Lesson Planning and guidance on how to deliver the Boxing Awards

The Boxing Awards is all about getting children and young people involved by making the sport a fun thing to do with their friends. They can earn awards by learning the sports basics and the scheme provides an easy progression for those who want to do the real thing in boxing clubs.

AIM

The aim of the Boxing Awards one-day Boxing Tutor Course is to qualify participants to run the Non Contact Boxing Awards in schools, colleges, community sports projects, boxing clubs, universities, youth centres and Sports Centers. The course is open to anyone 16 years of age and over.

Get Certified

You will have to complete a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Check, which you will be required to present to the organisation where you are delivering the awards. You will also be required to hold a first aid qualification prior to teaching the Boxing Awards.

All Boxing Tutors are reminded to read and familiarise themselves with the Child Protection Policy. Remember - any sparring that forms part of the silver, gold and platinum awards must be conducted in a boxing ring at a ABA affiliated boxing club. A qualified ABA Boxing coach must be in charge of the spar.

Once again, congratulations and well done.
